You are probably on an emotional high from the proposal and your head is spinning with all the details. Well, get ready for the question you will hear over and over and over again… “Have you set a date?”. Trust me, not even 30 minutes after sharing the news, people were asking me this question. So here are a few suggestions on how to approach your next steps as a newly engaged couple.

• Just breathe and take in the excitement of the moment. Wait a few days before you begin with the actual planning.
• Sit down with your fiancé and iron out what type of wedding you want to have. This will help dictate the location, time and date.
• Take a long, deep look into your finances and think about what you want for your immediate future. If buying a house is at the top of your list, factor that cost into how big or elaborate you want your event. Your wedding will always be the most important day of your life but you do not want to start a marriage under the pressure of insurmountable bills.
• Have THE talk with your parents if you plan on asking them for help paying for the wedding.
• Make sure you are still breathing!
• Subscribe to wedding magazines (if you have not already done so), buy a wedding organizer (hint hint) and get to the fun stuff.
