What better day to go all out and have a professional touch for your makeup than your wedding day? If you spend time searching for the perfect dress, you want your face to reflect that same time and care. A professional cosmetologist will know the best color selections and what will stand up to the endless pictures, hugs and kisses on that day.
First, select your style (Natural, Romantic, Eclectic, Vintage, etc.) then collect pictures from various magazines. Don’t limit yourself to wedding magazines. You may find inspiration from somewhere you least expect. Clearly communicate with your selected cosmetologist your strict do’s and don’ts but be open to suggestions on the trial day.

It’s pretty common knowledge that brides are told their wedding make-up should be minimal or natural in appearance, as the bride’s face paint should not get more notice than the bride herself.

It’s hard to argue with that logic. However, judging from the photos we’ve found for pretty colorful make-up options, it’s clear that adding a bit of color doesn’t seem to diminish the bride’s shine one bit, especially in a cultural or alternative style wedding.

And let’s not forget those vintage weddings where dramatic and glamor is the order of the day.

When choosing your wedding day look, keep in mind that advice is just that, advice. You don’t have to adhere to any particular standard and you don’t have to take such recommendations as law. If you think it’s beautiful, and the camera agrees, then clearly it is the right choice for you.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we offer this board to those of you in love with that Emerald hue, who are looking to say “I Do” on the lauded day, or just simply want a bit of that Irish flair on the big day. While this board does focus mostly on the green of the day, a simple introduction of some orange accents will add a bit more flavor for a much more national focus. Whether the Luck of the color or the luck of the Irish, at least one is bound to add that extra bit of blessing to the union. Enjoy and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
