In case it hasn’t been made obviously clear, I have a chocolate addiction. I love the color, the texture, and the taste, not to mention it’s extremely versatile. In kind, this week’s board pairs that lovely hue with a color I think compliments and is complimented perfectly by it, sky blue. If you ask me, this color combination isn’t used enough. While gathering the info for our ITD Top 5 Inspiration Boards post, I came across a really gorgeous Indian Wedding Board. I love Indian weddings–all those bright colors, delicious dishes, and moments of celebration. Romance in Red and White

It’s February already, and for lovers, this month is equated with romance and passion. In honor of this month for loving, we offer our Valentine’s Day inspired and inspiring board. This romance in red and white has tinge of the sexy–check out the shoes if you doubt it–but if you are looking to get a little more holiday-ish, adding a touch of pink to your flowers, tables, and/or accessories is sure to do the trick. Also, more traditional brides who really want to wear the white can really spice things up by adorning the white with a red sash, some red accessories, and some really hot red shoes. If you have some of your own ideas for a perfectly gorgeous red and white wedding, let us hear your thoughts!

The Wedding gown is by Maggie Fiorenza, both bridesmaids’ gowns are by Mori Lee, and the paint dripped shoes are by Sergio Rossi.

Inspiration- Bright Beach Beauty

As with most inspiration boards, I discovered this theme while perusing the net. I saw the colorful, bamboo centerpieces and inspiration hit. Really, aren’t they gorgeous? These centerpieces aren’t for everyone, as they have too many colors to be deemed elegant and the candy colors practically shout ‘fun’! So, what better way to show these pieces up than in a fun spring or summer beach event? If you feel the same way, I hope this board serves to inspire you in your own planning endeavors.

Side note: The watercolor dress is from Bari Jay’s Shimmer collection, the cocktail is Hypnotic Liqueur mixed with something lovely and intoxicating, the invites are from Wedding Paper Divas, the favor bags are highlighted in our January 12 post, and the earrings are blue topaz with pink tourmaline. Everything else was found by luck and without citation, so happy hunting!

Wild And Sexy in Gold and Black

While gold and black are a stunning combination, a truth I originally set out to show with this board, I must be honest. My purpose was slightly diverted when I saw those leopard print stilettos. The color scheme was still a main focus, but ultimately, I wanted to share such incredibly sexy, lust-inducing shoes yet remain true to the Showers Blog purpose.

Please indulge me.

Much research resulted in the knowledge that there aren’t a whole lot of ways to incorporate the leopard print style into your wedding decor outside of attire. However, if you want to kick that meeeeow up another level, you can incorporate animal print via bouquet and centerpiece ribbon, and/or minor stationary (i.e. placecards, seating charts, programs, etc.). Also, instead of flowers for centerpieces, try using a bushel of leafless twigs and long stalks of golden grain to evoke that vast, open safari land. These items can be purchased at any hobby store, and they are so inexpensive.

If you like the colors but aren’t too crazy about the wildcat look, take note of the ways in which black and gold can be elegantly sexy without involving too much extra work (gold painted berry twigs at place settings, featured cocktail color, an accent sash to catch the eye). I particularly like the use of candlelight and those all-occasion gold paper lanterns in creating a look that is warm and simplistic, yet lush. Enjoy the visual candy and be inspired!

Peacock Pretty

While thinking of color ideas for this week’s inspiration board, I tried to think of colors we don’t often see coupled together for weddings. The two colors that immediately came to mind were plum/indigo and sage. This, of course, brought to mind peacocks and their brightly varied plumage. Peacocks are fabled to be pure at heart, loyal and faithful to their partners. For this reason they have come to symbolize not only metaphysical elevation, but also eternal love. The peacock’s colors and image, when used, is often used in weddings and homes to symbolize fidelity and encourage a lasting and loving partnership. Aesthetically and emotionally, the peacock is an excellent theme around which to focus a wedding. So, if you’re looking add a bit of this feathered beauty’s mystique and power to your own special day, use this board to give you ideas for accenting and coordinating with this birdie in mind.
