Wedding Day Make-Me-Over

Posted on May 31st, 2009 by LG  |  No Comments »

What better day to go all out and have a professional touch for your makeup than your wedding day? If you spend time searching for the perfect dress, you want your face to reflect that same time and care. A professional cosmetologist will know the best color selections and what will stand up to the endless pictures, hugs and kisses on that day.

First, select your style (Natural, Romantic, Eclectic, Vintage, etc.) then collect pictures from various magazines. Don’t limit yourself to wedding magazines. You may find  inspiration from somewhere you least expect. Clearly communicate with your selected cosmetologist your strict do’s and don’ts but be open to suggestions on the trial day.

Don’t leave your cake table bare. Incorporate some décor from your event and create a beautiful showpiece.

Some tips for making your cake stand out:

Make sure you use the right size table. The smaller your cake, the smaller the table should be to avoid overshadowing.

Stick with your theme. The cake table will get plenty of attention so it should blend in well with all of the other elements of your wedding.

Spot lighting looks fabulous and gives a very dramatic effect. If you are using a lighting technician or if you can arrange for your table to sit directly under a light you will love the way your cake is highlighted.

Make it personal. If you would like to memorialize a special someone, you can definitely incorporate small items in their honor. Or if you and your groom have a moment in your lives together you want shared, use that as inspiration.

Before you jet-set to your piece of paradise, make sure you have all of the details well organized. None more important than knowing the marriage laws in your selected country. Here are some suggestions for helping ensure your international transition is as smooth as possible.

  • Get the details here. Marriage laws vary from state to state and country to country so make sure you are aware of what to expect.
  • Know the residency laws. Some countries require a couple to live in their territory for a designated amount of time.
  • Lost in translation. Find out if you will be able to get your marriage license translated into English. This is a requirement in the U.S. so it is very important information to have.
  • Have all legal documentation on hand before you take any steps forward. This includes: passports, birth certificates, death certificates (widow/widower) and divorce decrees for those who are previously married.
